Gnome Terminal Scrolls on reboot/shutdown
I'm running Gentoo 2004.2 with the latest and greatest of everything (including Gnome 2.6.2). Kernel is 126.96.36.199. I've run into a weird problem on two systems, one laptop and one desktop. I've also seen this problem in the past on Slackware 9.1 and 10.0. When I type reboot (as root), or "shutdown -r now" or "shutdown -h now" the terminal starts scrolling very quickly - just newlines after newlines after newlines. I've searched Google and the only thing I could find to accurately describe what was happening was here:
HTTPS bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=82901 (sorry would have posted a link but not yet at the 5 postings minimum)
But, there was never a solution provided. Anyone have any idea what could cause this?
Anyone have any idea why this happens? I've seen this on multiple systems (and at least on Slackware 9.1, 10.0, and the Gentoo 2004.2) with a default setup (ie no major modifications) so I can't imagine that it's something I'm doing wrong.
