GNOME system tray

Does GNOME have a system tray where icons are stored like KDE does? Mainly asking so I can use the system tray plugin for Gaim in GNOME.

Right click on the panel you want to add it to (it's already loaded if you use the top menubar), and choose Add To Panel=>Tools (or something similar, my desktop is in Dutch atm)=>System Notification Area.
