Gnome - "Save current session" doesn't
Well, it sort of does. It remembers the quantity of windows and apps of each type I saved, but never remembers their locations.
I use my Linux box mainly for VPN connection to my work. So I have several terminal windows setup that I want to cascade on the various desktops. Everytime I login, all the terminals are stacked exactly on top of one another in the first desktop. I looked for the file that saves this info so I could edit it manually. I found ~/.gnome/session which looks promising, but the geometry statement seems to be ignored except for the size. How can I force the terminals and other apps to stay where I put them? Also, is there any documentation on the "set stacking", "remember state" and "stick/unstick" menu commands gotten by right-clicking on the upper left of the app window? Thanks for any help. -Jerry |
