Gnome right mouse button menu

I am interested in knowing how can I configure the right mouse button menu on the desktop area in Gnome. The standard menu consisting of "New Window", "New Terminal", etc. is ugly and I would like to add my own stuff there.

I searched the net and plenty of forums and didn't find any answers, leading me to believe that that menu is not configurable. Please let me know if that is the case.

Thanks in advance.
