Gnome Profiles for User Alias

Recently I started sharing my development server with a new person joining in. To keep different sets of preferences but to share privilages I created a user with same UID and GID in passwd file.

This setup works fine with most, but the gnome appears to be still using the preferences from the home directory of original account for both users and it is not creating set of configuration in new account alias (Which has same UID and GID as original account).

Is there a way to tell gnome to use different set of configuration?

(Note : I usually do a ssh to development machine and then run the desktop by running a script which spawns metacity, nautilus, xscreensaver, gnome-panel etc.)
