Gnome Problems in KDE

I'm happily running KDE 3.1 without any problems at all. However, when I try and run gnome applications i.e. gnucash, synaptic, anjuta, there is a problem. It's not that the programs dont work, its that they look terrible. I'm running a 1024x768 display and my kde apps look right for this, but the gnome apps look as though they are running at 640x480. The buttons, for example, are 3 times bigger in he gnome apps than the kde apps.

It's only a trivial problem, but i want things to look nice in kde.
Can anyone help?

** scratches head **

Are you using an installed icon theme? And have you checked the preferances in programs menu?

I've checked all the settings and they seem fine. What's more is, my kde login manager (kdm) is displayed in the same manner. Maybe its kde and im not seeing straight?! Are there default settings that are used if the correct ones can't be found?

I'm in the process of creating my own website so shall put some pix up to show u what is going on, maybe that would help.
