Gnome log out option only, no shut down

Hi,

I just started using Gnome over KDE (gradually weaning myself off windows like things) and I really like it... I just can't figure out, though, how to get Gnome to allow me to shut down from the 'log off' menu option. I have to log out of gnome, then shut down from the user login screen. In KDE, I could shut down or restart directly from KDE. I checked the O'Reilly manual, and I should be able to edit preferences from the Control Center, but alas, there is no option for configuring shut down there... or am I missing it? I'm using SuSE 8.2, which is a pretty KDE biased distro, I've gathered... is there something missing that should have been put in there that wasn't?

Probably u are using KDM as the login manager???
When using kdm, you get in gnome just logout... and in KDE logout / reboot / shutdown.
This is vice versa, BTW, so when using GDM, means for KDE just logout....

Okay, cool... that's what I was doing, I wasn't sure if there was a way I could do it directly from Gnome (I guess not with KDM, bummer). I thought I was losing my mind though, that I couldn't find that option that O'Reilly was talking about. ... Thanks!

I'll look into it... My husband and still learning and I think might be more comfortable with KDE to start with (not that I'm not still learning too, holy crud, what a learning curve!)
