gnome audio error: "Sorry, no mixer elements and/or devices found"
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Sound was working on stock Fedora Core 3 install, after up2date update no sound. I am using thinkpad x40, 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3.
system-config-soundcard output: Vendor: Intel Model: Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller Module: snd-intel8x0 I have these alsa packages installed: alsa-lib-1.0.6-8.FC3 alsa-lib-devel-1.0.6-8.FC3 gnome-alsamixer-0.9.6-3.1.fc3.rf alsa-utils-1.0.9rf-2.FC4 alsaplayer-0.99.76-2.1.fc3.rf I adjust volume control moving slide to + side via volume control icon and slide automatically moves to -. I go to applications -> Sound & Video -> Volume Control and get message "Sorry, no mixer elements and/or devices found" Any ideas? Please let me know if additional information is needed. Thanks! |
I am taking a wild shot here:
1. modprobe snd_intel8x0 to make sure it is loaded 2. rc-update add /etc/init.d/alsasound default 3. see if you have a menu item called multimedia selector or something similar. Pick the one that says ALSA. |
