gmameui some roms not working in ubuntu but work in Windows

OK so I am getting back into my mame addiction. I have gmameui running on my Ubuntu 10.10 laptop and some of the roms work just fine. Some error out and say missing files. The problem is that the roms that do not work under Ubuntu work in windows. I have also tried to get mame to work under Wine and that was not successful either. Does anyone know what might be going one or other ways I can try it?

Thanks
