If you installed Nvidia drivers correctly, open your /etc/X11/XF86Config. Look after a section called:

Section "Module"

and comment out the line where it stands

Load "dri"

Simply put a hash (#) at the beginning of the line like this:

# Load "dri"

Make also sure that at this section, you have a line with

Load "glx"

Remember though, that this will only work if you are getting a "Nvidia" splash screen when you start the X server"

That should fix your problem. Hopefully

Strange. Could you please post here your XF86Config file and tell if you've installed nvidia official drivers too? Thanks

Cool, everything looks fine. Just a few changes required . Here

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "nv"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX (generic)"
VideoRam 65536
EndSection

Where it stands Driver "nv" substitute the nv to nvidia. Next time you start the X server, you will get a Nvidia Splash screen, which also means you are now 3D Accelerated ghehe.
Your card is also capable of TV-out, if you want/need this feature just let me know and I help you with that too . Lemme know if it works

Regards
