glut problem

Hi

I am unable to run any opengl program that uses glut.
It is giving the following error message.
freeglut (./a.out): OpenGL GLX extension not supported by display ':0.0''

I have uninstalled nvidia drivers in my pc.
Since then i am encountering this problem.
I am also not sure if the unstallation procedure is correct.

So,can someone tell me how to check if the nvidia drivers are properly uninstalled or not.
Plz help me solve this problem.

i want to have glut programs running.

Thank you.

Normally you would install the nvidia drivers to get GLX support, why did you uninstall them ?

Thanks for your response
I am running a program which is accelarated because of nvidia drivers.
In order to make it work at proper speed i had to uninstall nvidia drivers.
And after that i am unable to run glut scripts.
