GLIBC 2.2.x to 2.3.x

There's some software that I'd like to install, but it seems that they require glibc 2.3.x

I run mandrake 9.0 which has glibc 2.2.5

Now, I remember reading somewhere that you can't "install" (or upgrade to) a higher glibc version
without destroying the entire universe, and probably a couple of other neighbouring ones along with it as well.

So what exactly is the situation here with this glibc thingy?
Is there a solution to this problem?

( going to a higher version of Mandrake is not possible for me at this time )

simple get a higher mandrake version

for me it was 9.2

copy all the rpms from the RPMS directory to a directory

go to software sources manager in configuretion / packaging

and then update SSM to directory you put that the RPMS in

disable the 3 9.0 cds from SSM

run rpmdrake (software installer)

enter in 'kernel'

it will automaticly select all the system files (glibc, etc)

the first time for me usually fails because dev required something

then enter in 'kernel'

and try it again

Your lucky that I could help cause I did that exact same thing...I take it you want to do this because of processing power?
