Unhappy glib and sdk environment var error

ok, i have searched the forums for many days now trying to find te answer to this question but to no avail. I am running redhat 9 and am trying to have a little fun and play a few games. most games require the glib library, which i installed ver sion 2.2.3. after trying to install a game i got an error saying that it cant find the PKG_CONFIG environment variable. this i solved by

export PKG_CONFIG="/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/"

i tried again to install the game, this time that is no longer the error, now it is saying that it cant find the GLIB_CONFIG environment variable(same for SDL). i tried to find it but could not. all of the places listed in the forums of its location, it is not to be found on my comp. the question is, where can i find GLIB_CONFIG and if i do find it can i just use the export command, or how do i fix this. i cannot play any games wothout it it seems

do i set the GLIB_CONFIG just to the directory where it is installed?

i see glib files in a lot if dirs but mainly in /usr/local/lib/

i tried to set the GLIB_CONFIG to the directory and it said that

"/usr/local/lib/" is a directory, glib could not be found?!?

i think that it needs the location of a specific file??

The variable for pkgconfig should be PKG_CONFIG_PATH not PKG_CONFIG. At least so it is on my Debian system. Type "env" in a bash console so view your variables

Exclamation glib-config isn't there

The problem is that glib doesn't use the glib-config file in the 2.x version. config is searching for glib-config, wich was used in glib-1.x...
