The website lists rpms and .bz2 files. I can't find a version 2 that ends in a tar.gz like I am used to. How do I work with the other file types? I haven't learned RPM very well yet and I don't know what opens the bz2 files at all.

just decompres tar.bz2 files with a j option instead of z, it's all in the tar manpage...
