gimp - permanant grids (after save)


is there an easy way to put a grid on an image, but make it stay with a save. i can see how to add a grid, but it will not permanantly be on the image, i need to do horiz and vert lines every 250pxl

Have you tried saving the image in "Gimp XCF image" -format? There's probably no way to save grid (or anything else like that) in any of the standard image formats (jpeg, png etc.).
