Gimp inserting a Image


I'm trying to move a jpg into Gimp.
I know this is a simple process but how do I insert the image.

I should have been a little more detail.
i have the .ps image loaded but I want to put a jpg picture in with the text. in the .ps file.

Can you open the jpg and either copy/paste or drag the jpg layer into the .ps window as a new layer? That's how it would be done with other image types. I have no experience with .ps files.

Well my biggest problem is knowing the terms in using a graphic imaging program.
yes I can drag it out of my home directory into the .ps file but putting it where I want it is my problem.
After I drag it over it puts in center of page and I want it at top center.

Use the move tool in gimp, it's the large + with arrows at each point. You should be able to move a layer wherever you like.
