Thumbs up GIMP 2 vs. Photoshop CS

Nothing against either application - both remarkable achievements (despite Adobe lack of Linux support).

I've always been a Photoshop user and only recently downloaded the latest GIMP... and very nice it is too...

hmm. Photoshop's just too expensive. I'm not a designer but GIMP has all the tools I need, and I got to learn how to use it quickly. I never really learned how to do stuff I needed with photoshop... it has too much stuff and it's not so easy to find out how to use stuff without a good tutorial... on the other hand gimp was pretty much easier...

yeah same here, not a designer so anything that does the basics appeals to me and gimp just happens to be free.

photoshop is the best. GIMP has all the tools but its not as intuitive as photoshop. IMO

The new Gimp is more similar to Photoshop, and they dropped, apparently, that odd way of making separated windows for everything. As I suck at designing, anything with layer support will do. Gimp is quite fine for me
