gftp proxy issue

gftp won't connect to a remote ftp using proxy settings. I'm behind a squid proxy, and I know it works fine since other people are using windows ftp clients via proxy. This is what I get:

Looking up 10.3.7.2
Trying 10.3.7.2:3000
Connected to 10.3.7.2:3000

And it just sits there. I've got the proxy set on http with all the right info. I've also got version 2.0.15, which is the newest release.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks in advance,
-Kilka

"Trying 10.3.7.2:3000"

I am not behind a proxy. I have a dial up connection to an ISP

I tried 10.3.7.2:3000 using gftp with ftp:
Looking up 10.3.7.2
Trying 10.3.7.2:3000
and it just sat there.

I tried 10.3.7.2:3000 using gftp with http:
Looking up 10.3.7.2
Trying 10.3.7.2:3000
and it just sat there.

I tried 10.3.7.2:21 using gftp:
Looking up 10.3.7.2
Trying 10.3.7.2:21
and it just sat there.

I tried 10.3.7.2:3000 using Mozilla:
and it just sat there.

I tried 10.3.7.2:21 using Mozilla:
I got this message:
Access to the port number given has been disabled for security reasons.

Maybe these tests will give you a clue as to where the problem lies.

that's not the problem....

I am not a newb,

I know this information is correct, and my current squid configuration allows ftp w/o auth, so I do have the right port.

Otherwise your guessing game does not help me at all. What are you implying?

"What are you implying? "

I am not implying anything and I am not trying to insult you. I ran some tests that turned out to be inconclusive. I gave you the results
to add to the clues that you have to work with. The only things that I see of possible value in my tests is that I actually did get to port 21 for sure in one test, whereas it is inconclusive whether I reached port 3000, and that the absense of a proxy server seems to make no difference in the symptoms observed.

Also I got the same results in Mozilla as gftp. So the problem is unlikely to be a gftp bug.
