Getting KPPP to run correctly

I am slowing moving away from Gnome and getting more into KDE and I am having a problem getting online with KPPP. From KDE I can run the Gnome Network Device Control and it connects fine. KPPP dials my modem and I connect but none of my Internet apps know I am connected. Firefox says it is unable to resolve host name and Evolution says I am offline and will not send or receive mail.

I ran KPPP from a terminal window and it shows:

kbuildsycoca running...
Opener: received SetSecret
Opener: received OpenLock

Opener: received OpenDevice
Opener: received ExecPPPDaemon
Kernel supports ppp alright.
In parent: pppd pid 22046
Couldn't find interface ppp0: No such device
Opener: received OpenResolv
failed to read from /etc/ppp/resolv.conf
Opener: received RemoveSecret
Opener: received RemoveSecret
Opener: received KillPPPDaemon
In killpppd(): Sending SIGTERM to 22046
Opener: received RemoveSecret
Opener: received RemoveSecret
Opener: received OpenResolv
Opener: received OpenResolv
Opener: received RemoveLock

It dials my modem and logs in to my ISP, why does it say ppp0: no such device? Why does it fail to read resolv.conf? When I run KPPP I am asked for the root password. How can I run KPPP as a regular user? Is this causing problems with me connecting?

When I am in KDE as a regular user I cannot run KPPP without entering the root password. I turned up the volume on my modem and KPPP does dial and it goes through the squealing mating call and connects to my ISP. But no Internet apps work. They all say there is no connection or that I am offline.

It's really not a major issue, I can connect using Gnome's Network Device Control with KDE. I just like KPPP because it minimizes into the system tray and has a little timer on it.

Forgot to that mention I am running Fedora Core 2.

I solved this one on my own (I'm so proud being such a newbie) In my first post I said KPPP couldn't open /etc/ppp/resolv.conf. I searched my HD and found
/etc/resolv.conf
and
/var/run/kppp/resolv.conf
but no
/etc/ppp/resolv.conf

I just copied /etc/resolv.conf to /etc/ppp/resolv.conf and I am now able to connect using KPPP.
