get rid of the "Local Network" icon on Desktop

I'm using SuSE 9 professional, and I woulld like to get rid of the "Local NEtwork" icon on the desktop.

I have deleted the file /etc/opt/kde3/share/apps/kdesktop/Desktop/Network.desktop, which gets rid of the icon, but the file always reappears after a few days! How do I get rid of it so it doesn't come back?
