gentoo (the FILE manager) help on Fluxbox

Hi,
I just reinstalled Slackware because i pretty much messed up all the configureations with the previous installtion. My goal this time is to have a sleek and cool desktop but lightning fast while at it. So i figured i'd use Fluxbox instead of KDE for my window manager.

As soon as i got Fluxbox up and running i noticed there wasn't a file manager (or at least i can't find one) other then using the console. I wanted a fast but graphical File manager so i went with gentoo. Now here is my problem(s) with it:

I'm trying to edit the xf86config using gentoo. But it reads the type of the file as unknown, therefore i cannot do anything to the file except view it. I messed around with the configuration of gentoo for over an hour but can't figure it out, and the documentation for this program is hidden cause i cant find any good info anywhere.

If anyone has experiance with gentoo (the file manager not distro) please share your wisdom or point me in the right direction for good documentation.

file managers don't have anything to do with what distribution you're using.

You can use the same window manager on every distribution and make them all look exactly the same.

As for file managers, I'd try ROX. I've heard a lot of good about it.

Well, gentoo is not exactly too simple to be used ( that's my opinion of course ). I have given up and i have choosen worker, quite similar in terms of performances but imo easier to be configured ( i have to say i have used an amiga in the past with the original, and worker is a lot more similar to dopus than gentoo ).

Generally speaking in almost every 2 pane file manager when you want to edit a file you have to press F4.

For example in worker i have choosen to have an edit button, with the keyboard shorcut F4, and thus i can use this shortcut for every file.

Anyway i have to say that always imo the worker default config isn't too good, and i have changed almost everything. If you are interested in trying it drop me a pvt msg.
