Gentoo- keyboard and x server misconfigured
Hi there!!
I have recently finished the process of installing gentoo (at last ) . When I login into the system (only shell) the keyboard works fine but if i start the x server, using xinit, an incorrect keymap seems to be loaded as i cant type the char that is in the key. I have set the correct keymap in /etc/rc.conf Another problem is with the resolution of the x server. Im using fluxbox and i can only get 640*480 res, how can put it at higher resolutions? I've looked for the xorg config file and found it under /etc/X11/xorg.conf.example ; and renamed it to xorg.conf but after this step X can't start at all... How can i solve this problems? I think the problem is related to x not starting if i have the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf (which holds the configs for the X right?) but i can't see a turn around for the problem. Any help/tip would be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance and sorry if the post seems a little confusing, i will be glad to explain more details as best as i can. |
at the console type --->
#locate xorgconfig example output --->/usr/X11R6/bin/xorgconfig #cd /usr/X11R6/bin/ #xorgconfig xorgconfig is a utility to make a xorg.conf according to ur specifications........ |
Thanks!
Its a usefull tool; i've done some "hand config" and now its working perfectly!! |
