gentoo install hangs on emerge system
I'm installing gentoo on my P3 laptop and going through everything fine except it got to the second to last package during the emerge system and it just hangs on
checking if openpty correctly handles controlling tty... And it just sits there forever. I hit control-c to stop it and emerged system agian, but got the same problem. This is on a P3 laptop using the LiveCD. Any ideas? Thanks. |
What are your cflags in make.conf? Sometimes bad flags will cause compiling to fail.

I whiped the HD and started over and this time it worked. Thanks anyway, though.

I had the same problem, and this is what I did:
CTRL + Z killall conftest fg It then completed the test with the answer 'no' and continued the emerge. Not sure if this is an entirely safe thing to do or whether it's only sweeping the real problem under the carpet, but I'm damned if I'm going to waste another day compiling... The package was OpenSSH, by the way. (Yep, I know this is an ancient thread. Just thought I'd help out other people who stumble across this page because it's the only meaningful result on Google!) |
