gentoo and dns

I use gentoo and my dns service doesn't work properly. I think all config files are fine, but when I boot I must always stop dhcpcd and start it again on my network interface to get it to work. Then it all works. But without it it wont. My config files say it should use dhcp and it even gets an IP (I check it with ifconfig), but network remains unreachable until I do the trick (stopping and starting dhcpcd).

anyone has an idea about a clean way to solve this issue without adding those two commands in the network scripts?
