so i went to nvidias website hit graphic->geforce->linux amd64 (from drivers menu) and i start downloading the driver i get to about 5-10 percent and it craps out on me, i even tried downloading the file on a different computer (which runs XP) and it wouldnt work, so i am wondering if there is a alternate place i can download the driver from, and by the way this is the error i get:
Code:
/home/bob/Desktop/downloads/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-9629-pkg2.run.part
could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
try again later, or contatct the server administrator

It seemed to work fine for me, so it might have been a temporary problem on nvidia's side of things. Either way there's problem a package available as well. I know ubuntu and arch have packages, I'm pretty sure suse did when I tried it. Without knowing what distro you use that's about all the info I can give.
i downloaded it succesfully today, and the reason i posted two threads is because it never told me it succesfully posted the first, so i could have had a connection error, but when someone makes a mistake please do not talk to them in such a rude manor as rickh did, that was the truly juvenile act, and thanks to everyone else for the help, and not being so rude about my mistake
