gdm/xorg wont start


this is after fresh install of debian. i was up in the air between kde and gnome so i didnt install gnome immediately, i waited then did 'apt-get install gnome' after i compiled new kernel. gnome wouldnt start so i did 'apt-get install xorg'. Still this:

I'd suggest you reconfigure X by running 'xorgconfig' or post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file here.

Or as it's Debian try: dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Exclamation gdm/xorg won't start

Hi - I have this same problem, only this is after an upgrade to gdm/xorg under Debian. Gnome was working before, now it only works for root, and crashes to the desktop for other users with no error messages (only warnings). I tried reconfiguring, changing the video settings (Intel 815 EM) and even reverting to previous versions of xserver-xorg with no luck. Here are the versions:

gnome 2.14.3.5
gdm 2.16.4-1
xserver-xorg 7.1.0-11
