gdm is not working

Hi, I changed my /etc/inittab to runlevel 4, but my gdm is not working. From Gnome I selected "New Login in a nested window" but it says I have to "START" gdm? but I dont know how to start it?

IIRC, all you have to do is login at the text login screen and run:

$ gdm

I believe that will take you straight into gnome with gdm running in the background and then you can select that option that you want. gdm is the graphical login screen for gnome.
