Angry .. Gdesklets does not start !!!!! ..

Hi guys,

I have just installed gdesklets on my Debian/Sarge with Kernel 2.6. I did the

installation normally for Debian, which is, "sudo apt-get install gdesklets

gdesklets-data". Then I tried to launch some Sensors, for example, Weather

forecast and Starterbar, they worked without any problem.

The problem is, when I logged out, reboot my computer and logged in again, I

saw that, the logo of the gdesklets appeared in the Splash screen, but the

Splash screen did not disappear. Then, I had to click at the Splash screen area

to close it. Whan happend next was, the gdesklets did not start !!! (even I could

see its logo in the Splash screen).

Then, I tried to solve this problem by adding a command "gdesklets" in the

Gnome session -> start application. When I logged out and reboot my computer

again, I could see "two" logos of the gdesklets in the Splash screen ! Now

the gdesklets can be loaded but, for the Splash screen, it still appeared on the

Desktop !! I had even to click at the Splash screen area again to make it

disappear

-------

Anyone has found this problem before ????

Please suggest me how to deal with it

I tried searching in Google, but did not find any clue

Thank you in advance,

Alez ..

I had a similar problem with some self-compiled plugins for gdesklets when I first put it on. Try killing all running processes of gdesklets, then launch it manually from the console. A load of verbose messages should run through telling you what it's trying to do and why it won't launch properly.

thanks for reply, fouldsy

Yesterday, I tried to remove gdesklets and re-installed it.

Then, I tried to launch it manually from a terminal, it could be loaded without any problem. I had only the Weather forecast and an analog clock.

Then, I put the command "gdesklets start" in the Gnome
session (Start command) and I reboot my computer.

Afer I logged into Linux again, I found that, there were still two logos of gdesklets in the Splash screen, and the Splash screen did not disappear when I went into the desktop.

I had to click onto the Splash screen area to make it disappear. But in this time, the gdesklets can be loaded.

Also, I found another problem
When this problem occured from gdesklets, I found that, when I would like to shut down (or reboot) my computer, the window of Logout appeared very slowly (or even disappeared). I had to reboot or shut it down form a terminal.

Since launching gdesklets from a terminal can be done without any problem, thus, I did not find any error message or even a log file collecting the errors from this

Do you have any further suggestion ?

Best,

Alez
