Unhappy GD Library install for Coppermine

Hey,

I'm desperately trying to install GD Library (for use with Coppermine) on my web server running Mandrake 9.2, Apache 2.0, PHP 4.3.3

I don't have a gcc compiler on my server so I'm using a rpm for this.

I've installed gd-1.8.3-7-i386.rpm by running:
$rpm -Uvh gd-1.8.3-7.i386.rpm

now when I check if gd is installed by:
$rpm -q gd

I do get:
gd-1.8.3-7

but when checking whereis gd I get just "gd:"

I'd really appreciate your help on this one,

Hello!

Please install also gd-devel-{version}.i386.rpm
The devel package is needet for the system to know where all the libraries are located.

You also need the php-gd module "php-gd-{version}"

That should be enough I think.

Thanks again!

I've tried looking for the right version but so far I only found for PHP 4.2.3 (while mine is 4.3.3) - from http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...p?query=php-gd

I've tried to install it, but got failed on 4 dependenices some of them I've already have such as lib gd 1.8.4.

I've also tried to intall php4-gd-4.3.3-12.i586.rpm but got failed on dependency: libgd (2.0.12) so should I uninstall gd and gd-dev 1.8.3 and install libgd 2.0.12 or is there no change for running i586 rpm at all on my machine?

Thanks again,
Sorry for the beginners questions...

I can't instal it with dependencies, because it is not the right version- (I get errors about missing directory)

I'd love to hear further ideas, I really need this done...

Maybe you can find some rpm's and additional info about rpm's here:
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
http://urpmi-addmedia.org/

Basically it's for urpmi.

These may also be good:
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/2/simple/2
