gcompris rocks! missing assetml-voices-alphabet-en

my son's computer runs ubuntu (debian) and i put on gcompris.. its a fabulous kid suite for education / entertainment.. everything runs fantastic..

except:
there is a 'type the letter you hear' where they say the letter, and you have to type it... its missing a package called assetml-voices-alphabet-en

i found an *.rpm.. alien'd it, and installed it w/ dpkg -i, but it didn't do anything..

then i tried to rpm -i it.. and it didn't help either
[edit] i can't find a native *.deb package [/edit]

i did search, but the threads that contained anything about gcompris are very old..

has anyone had this problem?
