gcc-3.3.3 install trouble for fedora core 1
 

i downloaded the gcc-3.3.3.tar.gz file opened it with tar -zxvf gcc-3.3.3.tar.gz. now that went fine so i went to the next step and made the folder it said to make went in to the folder and typed ../gcc-3.3.3/configure and it gives me this error:

Configuring for a i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld host.
Created "Makefile" in /home/joe/gcc-build using "mt-frag"
../gcc-3.3.3/configure: line 8: cc: command not found
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

so what does it want me to do and how do i do it?
