gcc-3.3.3 compling(configure-target-libiberty error 1)

I'm trying to install GCC-3.3.3 from the source.

after ./configure --prefix=/usr, I did make
but it shows me error message.

checking for uintptr_t... no
checking for pid_t... yes
checking whether the C compiler ( /home/jeindus/downloads/objdir/gcc/xgcc -B/home/jeindus/downloads/objdir/gcc/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/lib/ -isystem /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/include -O2 -g -O2 ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.
make: *** [configure-target-libiberty] Error 1

What can I do??
