gtk
while tring to install gtk+ i get the error :
checking for freetype-config... /usr/bin/freetype-config
checking For sufficiently new FreeType (at least 2.0.1)... no
configure: error: pangoxft Pango backend found but did not find freetype libraries
Apparently you DO have freetype, but it is not the correct version. I suggest googling for the latest freetype version and first compile and install that before attempting to compile the rest of your application.
They might be in a weird place and require a '--with-freetype=/weird/place', also. 2.1.7 beats 2.0.1, so unless the script is one of those that does bad version math somehow (as in 2.11 is 'older' than 2.2) it sounds like the version is covered.
Sorry to leave you hanging. I'm surprised no one else has jumped in. Hope you got it straightened out. I don't know what's wrong because /usr/lib is an ordinary, default place.
