garnome installation errors

Hi all,

After I came to know that new gnome version has been released, I thought of trying it.
As per the instructions in the docs on website, I downloaded the garnome version for the new gnome.
And followed the instructions to install the garnome to upgrade my gnome to newer version.
Presently I am using RHEL4
But I get these errors.

Cannot write to `download/partial/alacarte-0.11.5.tar.bz2' (No such file or directory).
make[2]: *** [http//ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/alacarte/0.11/alacarte-0.11.5.tar.bz2] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/garnome-2.22.1/desktop/alacarte'
*** GAR GAR GAR! Failed to download download/alacarte-0.11.5.tar.bz2! GAR GAR GAR! ***
make[1]: *** [download/alacarte-0.11.5.tar.bz2] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/garnome-2.22.1/desktop/alacarte'
make: *** [paranoid-install] Error 2

Although i have followed all the instructions as given in the documentation on the website.
It is advised to try the gnome using this utility rather than compiling it from the tarballs. And very correctly though.
What can be the solution to this error?
And is there any solution in the first place?
And is it good idea to upgrade my gnome to try the new one?And if someone has tried it please tell the correct steps to do it?

gnome is about the most complicated thing to build on any *nix there is, Pat V. of Slackware fame discontinued including gnome, even the Linux kernel author bad-mouthed gnome. I would suggest using a distro with gnome already included in it(ubuntu just released yesterday, Fedora release will soon) a newer version wont be any better than the one you have now (years of experience)...

now i must run and hide before the gnome fanboys come to attack me for my comment

The RHEL4 comes with bundled gnome.
Thats not the problem.
I wanted to upgrade the gnome.
May be gnome is too complicated to compile and configure.
But I still like it though I am not the biggest of gnome fans like thousands out there.
I have never tried this thing before though usually i prefer to install softwares from the tarballs.
I knew I was upto something out here but have no idea as to how to proceed with this. Garnome itself is not getting installed and then after it has been then gnome comes into picture.
But am still wanting to do it and if anyone can help me for this?
