Games don't run in full screen

I am unable to run games full screen. I get a slightly oval shape with black in the corners, top and bottom.

Can I change this? I'm using a screen resolution of 1280 X 1024, fglrx drivers on a Debian based Mepis system.

Thanks.

Robert

Which games and how are you running them? (If you are running windows games via wine or cedega, there is a config option to set full screen mode.)
Have you tried seeing if the games are full-screen in a lower resolution?

What you are talking about sounds more like a distortion than a low resolution. Could you post a screenshot somewhere and a link to it here?
