Post Game - Master of Orion minimizing maximizing rapidly

Hello all,

I recently bought Master of Orion collector's edition on Steam.
I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 and just opened up the game.

After it gets past the company loading screens and intro video,
it starts minimizing and maximizing rapidly (the kind of flashy that hurts your eyes).

I managed to get it closed. I also managed to get it to run in windowed mode instead of fullscreen.
But it was still flashing at me.

I have workspaces off and have tried to reboot the machine as well.

This is not the only problem though.
The old games Master of Orion 1 and Master of Orion 2 that came with the collector's edition
open fine. (Steam opens them in DosBox, I'm assuming that's because I have it installed.)
These 2 games open up and the sides are cut off. It seems like the resolutions are wrong.
There's no option to adjust the resolution in the game to fix it.

The latter issue I'm not expecting anyone to check out so much.
I'm sure there's DosBox documentation I can find to fix that.

The minimizing/maximizing problem is what I'm trying to solve here.

Let me know what information will be needed and I can try to provide it.

Thanks in advance!

I'm going to mark this as solved now.

I managed to spend a little time searching the configuration files for the games in the Steam folder
and editing them.

Turning off Anti-aliasing in the Master of Orion config file stopped the flashing for me.

The other 2 games I edited the DosBox .conf file in the Steam folder and set the resolution manually and
put the aspect option to true and it fixed the problem for both games.

Nice, thanks for the tips!

I'll admit I was confused by your subject line, because there is a gaming term called "min-maxing" (as well as an unrelated computer science game AI term called min-max algorithm). Neither of these have anything at all to do with your issue.
