Angry Galeon, Mozilla... The FREEZE

weird, really... I have NEVER had this sort of problem with Mozilla before so If anyone has a theory of why this happened or has encountered it before, please offer me your insight.

Anyway, I had upgraded my Mozilla/Galeon to the latest that RH has via up2date... then printed out the manual for Flash and Java installation, crossed my fingers and viola! SUCCESS!!! - I had Flash AND Java.

I also started using the tabbed browsing feature of mozzilla and galeon - loved it... but then, once in a while my browser would freeze. I would have to kill it through the console or through the RH 8.0 system monitor.

Is it a mozilla issue or or a java plug-in issue? I couldn't tell... most of the time (I think) it happens when I am using the tabbed browsing feature. But then again, before I installed the java plug-in it rarely happened.

Any thoughts?

It would help if you post what versions of mozilla and galeon and java and flashplugin you got there.

Wild guess - might be a java problem.I don't know much about java but there has been quite a lot bitching about trouble with version 1.4.1 in various mailinglists. You might wanna try 1.3.1 to see if that fixes your trouble.

I think so too... I reviewed my installation and even reinstalled. I still can't pinpoint what triggers the freeze, which is even more frustrating. This weekend it didn't, so I get the feeling it happens when fate decides to tick me off...
