Gaim system font size

I've been using gaim for a long time without any problems but something has finally come up. I've started to realize that many people who I chat with seem to be using very small font sizes. Recently, I also realized that these people view my font as being larger than normal. I decreased my default font size in preferences, which fixes the problem on their end, but now everything appears much smaller than I'd like it on my screen (both sides of the conversation). Why is this the case, and is there some way I can get gaim to display everything a little bit bigger (even if it requires tweaking code somewhere)? Thanks.

did you set the "Ignore font sizes" under Conversations > Message Text in the gaim preferences? If it's on and all, are you using the gnome desktop?

I saw that option, but if possible I'd still like to see variations in font size, just have them all be displayed slightly bigger (as they are on windows aim). I'm using fluxbox, not gnome. I did play around with things some more and realized changing the default gtk font size in .gtkrc will accomplish this (increase all font sizes), although it does this for all gtk programs which makes everything too big. Is there a way to restrict this change to just gaim or to just one element of gaim (the names on the list)? Thanks again.

i had that problem once when i installed some ttf fonts and it messed up the gtk default font size, i didn't know how to change the gtk thingy, so i just ran the xfce4 gtk engine, and i configure all of my gtk program's looks using the xfce4 settings. xfce-mcs-manager is what it's called. it doesn't use up cpu power, but uses up about the same amount of memory as fluxbox, not a big problem for me.

Did that just change the default gtk size or specific parts of programs?

i tryed that too, when logged in to xfce4 gaim has better looking fonts than when logged in to other WMs...

Since I know it's asking to much to ask for certain parts of a program to increase in font size... how about this: Is there a way to change the default gtk font and size, but only for one program. In other words, can gaim see everything as 12 point but all the other gtk programs still use 10?

the gaim faqs says that the display fonts for gaim is effected by GTK, so i don't think there would be.

I mean is there a way, for example, in the .gtkrc file, to send different options to different programs that use gtk?
