I am trying to install gaim-0.82.1 on mandrake 9.2.

when i run ./configure
after compling for a seconds it says,

where as when i query rpm -qa|grep gtk

it show gtk+2.0-2.2.4-2mdk is present with some other gtk related rpms.

should i download latest versions of gtk+ that is 2.4 or any other idea to solve.

Grab the Mandy 9.2 package instead:

if you are absolutely sure that you have the gtk2 libraries installed and the rpm still reports the same error, force the install with:

There's no need to grab always the latest packages from Gaim. They update that thing every one/two weeks and have not added important features (if any at all since 0.75) as ICQ/MSN download capabilities.

The folks maintaining gaim surely have a lot of spare time to update it so often
