Gaim 0.70 is freezing ALL the time. I literally can't keep it open for more than 15 seconds without it freezing up. I'm running IceWM, the problem also plagued me with KDE.
Are there any known pieces of software that it conflicts with? My browser is Firebird, mail program is Thunderbird, and I'm a frequent user of Bittorrent on Gentoo. I'm using AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo, are any of these clients unstable?
It's just Gaim freezing. They keyboard, mouse, etc... still works, but gaim doesn't. I can still select gaim windows, but the graphics get whited out if a window is on top of them. Also, it appears as if I can still receive messages, a gaim window will open but it'll be white and I can't interact with it.
I also can't close the program any other way than by killing it.

in linux, programs don't really mess with other programs.
it's programs that were compiled with different versions
of the libraries or program or library bugs.
in your case, you can try deleting your config file, but if
it's locking up under different users, you should try
the different versions of the programs that you can get
ahold of.
well I'm no expert but it is the period of time servers will run self checks and produce logs. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I have heard on other forums of possible issues where the checking can cause something to freeze up or crash after 10 minutes.

yes, it's true that gaim will quit crashing if you uninstall it.
