Question Gaim crashes when logged on as user

I just installed Gaim .74 on Gnome Red Hat 9

When I start as being root, everything's fine. When I log on being 'me' it initialy starts up fine and connects properly.

And here it goes wrong; when i double-click a buddy to start a converstation, Gaim disappears completely.

I guess it has something to do with rights or something. Can anyone help me with this one??
