after compiling gaim 2.0 beta 5 on slackware 11, I have no option for automatic or arts or esd like I used to with previous versions. I havn't tried beta 4, but I did beta 3 (although it may have just been beta 2 I forget) and 1.5. Is there something I'm missing?
All I have is console beep, or command, I can make it worth with esd or arts through command, but it's not as good as it was with automatic cause I guess automatic would use alsa?
found out what was wrong. Gaim now uses gstreamer which I don't think I have installed and it used to use something else. I'm just using the command option with aplay %s which will use alsa to play all the sounds and it works fine, so if you have this problem you can do that, or either make sure you have gstreamer installed.
Thanks for the solution - I had been trying to use artsplay as other forums and such had suggested, and it wasn't working. But aplay works great (under Ubuntu 6.06, Gnome). Hooray!
