The gaim log files are text files....when you mean image...do you mean viewable through a web browswer or?...

jeez....... i think i know they're text i want to know, if there are pictures in that conversation, i saved them in the log, if i change the .log extension to .htm, open office opens the file and it comes up like its in gaim but you have blank pictures(and they say file:///root.....) if i try to open the location they give me mozilla just opens up to a blank page

Where would direct connect pictures be?

wow d00d your confusing, first off your not going to have pictures in your gaim log files, and i dont' know where direct connect came from all of a sudden, but you have to specify the directory in the settings where they are located....and i dont' know much about gaim, but if there was a picture that was displayed in your chat window, the .log file will skip it, it would be treated something like the emotions in msn when you look in the logs you dont see them, not even the key shortcut such as ;-)

you cant but a picture in a text file first of all. gaim should have asked you where to save the file or if you remember the name just search it. under your home directory

i already explained direct connect in my previous post....you want help, then read what people tell you...and i'll say it again, it is user specified, so we can't tell you where your files are goin.
