i don't really know what catagory this is, I just picked one. I have A Toshiba satelite A25 with Mint 10. it has windows xp as a backup, but i'll get to the point. If I try to fullscreesomething either in linux, or wine, or boot into windows and try it, My screen resolution goes from 1024 768 to a 640 480 box. The programs are windows, and they are Call of duty original, project 64, Word, and auto Cad. Bios tinkering didn't fix anything, and neither did a driver update. Any suggestions?

I had a quick look at the machine spec on the www.
Switching back to a desktop display default of VGA
seems to indicate that either the display controller
is not being recognized, or there are some issues
with the recognized amount of memory assigned to
the display.

Mint should have a desktop system utility that
you can use to determine whether the correct
display chip set (brand, and controller IC
number have been recognized), and that the
amount of system RAM assigned to the display
controller has been correctly recognized).

Check how much RAM you have assigned to the
display controller (BIOS settings) and try
changing the value if it is low, and then
changing the desktop display properties.

I checked my Bios (a pain, it took 7 reboots to press the right key) And i saw only a boot device list, a boot password, and fullscreen Bios options. I tinkered with it, but no difference. To be honest, the programs run fine, they just done fullscreen like i would like them to. Thanks for looking into this problem, but it persists. Oh, and if it matters, the graphics card is a Trident Brand, Cyber something, all the numbers and letters escape me after that.

Actually, could this be a RAM issue all together? I have a 2.66 Ghz cpu, which is nice, but only a wimpy 418mb Ram. Is this the heart of the problem right here?
