Full duplex use in play command

Hi

I am using RedHat 9, an asus-a7v400 m/b with onboard sound. Although the full duplex operation is enabled in the control center, the native play command just doesn't do it. While I am listening to mp3 in xmms, licq (with uses the play command for sound issues) outputs no sound.

Is there and option that enables play command to do duplex operations? Or some other equivalent program that I can use?

Thanks.

Tiago

You want software mixing. Make xmms and licq use the same sound server to get this working.

Linux 2.6 will sort this problem once and for all hopefully.

Well, I kinda didn't know how to do that... so, I searched for some documentation about arts sound server.
I found a program called artsplay that does the exact same thing as play. But it is compatible with my duplex option. Well, it worked just fine.

Thanks
