full digikam backup

I was tagging images like crazy today when it occured to me that although I do do regular backup of the pictures themselves, I don't save anything related to the taging and rating. Is there anyway to make a recoverable backup of the pictures and associated metadata ?

Yes:
Digikam stores the metadata in an sqlite database file. The file should be called something like digikam3.db and be in your library folder. This file stores all of the image information and tags; its paths are relative to the base library folder.
