FTP server for FTP-only clients?

Hello all

Let me apologize ahead for the following question. I'm sure it's dumb.

On winXP, I use bulletproof FTP server to host an FTP server. BPFTP allows me to create user accounts who only have access to the FTP server, and not to my windows XP.

I tried running vsftpd (on FC4). I am able to get it running and all. However, the only people allowed to connect are the people who have accounts on my computer (so just me), and the only directories they can see is their HOME directory.

I guess a way around that would be to create user login accounts to my FC, then have them log in the FTP with those accounts (or allow anonymous, which I dont want to do).

I was wondering if there's a way (or a FTP-server software) that allows me to create accounts for FTP services only.

Thanks!

Typically.... you would add a user account to your linux box, but don't give put them in the "user" group instead add them to the "ftp" group usually does the trick.

Thats being too simplistic though, as usually you have to define certain directories such users have access too as well.
