FTP help

Hi,

I want to record all the information abt data which is transferred (upload/download,size,time ...) using ftp. i read in an article that /var/log/xferlog keeps record of these things in redhat. Iam using redhat 8.0 and when i checked the /var/log/xferlog is empty and even if i transfer any files using ftp it is not recording anything ,the xferlog file is empty. how do i enable it to record the data transfered using ftp, whats the steps and procedure to make it recrod all the details. is there anyway to configure?, i have not installed any ftp s/w , iam using the defauly ftp which comes with redhat.

Thanks
pranesh
