I'm currently running proFTPD, how do I set up user permission values??

Like lets say I want user XMAN to be able to upload files, download files, read, write, delete all the basic stuff you would want... how do I do this??

u will have to setup your ftp server in a way that users belonging to particular group have permissions for one directory and others dont....

e.g.

user a,b,c of group ABC have rw permission for /home, /abc-data
ro permission for /def-data,
no permission for /etc.

then this can be done by making proper group ABC, and creating users a,b,c with ame GID.
then give permissions to /home as drw-rw-r--, /abc-data as drw-rw-r--, where owner is a or b or c and group is ABC.
