ftp: connect: Connection refused

How to ftp from Linux. to NT4

I have SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 OS.

I typed from command line as follwos:

ftp ip address (for win NT 4 machine)
> ftp: connect: Connection refused

I am also not able to telnet NT 4 Machine.

On other hand I can ping to win NT 4 machine.

I can ftp or telnet to sun boxes. Its work.

You probably don't have a ftp daemon (server) on the windows computer. For you to access ftp on a computer, the computer must have a ftp daemon running (i.e. vsftp). On windows, I'm not sure what kinds of ftp servers are there.

As for telnet, don't even bother. Telnet is only for unix computers and is not at all secure. Windows barely even supports console administration (even with NT's terminal services). Use ssh instead.
